Wet Season / Dry Season
This work represents the complete cycle of seasons for the Indigenous of Arnhem Land.
The left side of the painting represents the wet, when they would build weirs and nets in place to catch fish as the water rose.
The centre of painting represents growth and new life after the wet.
Right side of painting shows the complete cycle , wet again.
Even though this work only shows Wet and Dry Seasons, the people of Arnhem Land have broken up Wet and Dry into other seasons; Goose Season, Wild Honey Season, Fire Season etc.
